The Bajaj Pulsar has been an instant hit in the Indian market and has been the single major reason why the stereotyped image of a ‘scooter company’ that was associated with them has been changed completely to that of an automobile manufacturer.

The motorcycle scenario in India before the Pulsar series stormed the markets was mainly limited to the small capacity, fuel efficient motorbike category that belonged within the 80cc to 125cc class and except for the Royal Enfield’s 250cc ‘Bullet’ there were no higher capacity bikes.

In 1999 the Hero Honda launched the CBZ which was a runaway success and opened the floodgates for the performance bikes to grab a share of the market. Encouraged by this success, Bajaj Auto in association with Glynn Kerr, motorcycle designer launched the Pulsar series of motorcycles in November 2005 with the basic model at 135cc. It immediately followed that up with a 150cc bike.

The launch of the Bajaj Pulsar motorbikes and its success with the Indian youth led to a growing expectation among the younger generation of motorcycles with a higher capacity and power at an affordable cost. The project itself was fraught with resistance and reservations leading to doubts about the kind of effect it would have on its relations with its partner Kawasaki not to mention that it would cost Bajaj Auto around Rs. 1 billion and take roughly 36 months to be completed.

The DTS-i technology incorporated by Bajaj Auto is a first in the Indian motorcycle market and Bajaj has an Indian patent for it. It stands for Digital Twin Spark-ignition which is a technology that utilizes two spark plugs in place of the standard one plug however, not many of the motorbikes having smaller capacity engines did eventually use this technology in their machines.

Appearance

Overall, the Bajaj Pulsar 135LS DTS-i looks aggressive but has a light and sporty look and feel while at the same time providing a comfortable and convenient riding experience. The LS stands for Light Sport and the bike is an urban rider’s delight as far as maneuverability and agility in city riding conditions is concerned.

The headlight faring is of the bikini type and adds to its attractiveness whereas the positioning of the rear muffler and license plates gives it the appearance of a sport bike. The Bajaj Pulsar 135cc is available in three colors Plasma Blue, Midnight Black and Cocktail Wine Red

Launched in December, 2009 the Bajaj Pulsar 135 also happens to be the world’s first 4-valve digital twin spark plug bike and along with its neat sporty lines, coupled with an exceptional rev-up and acceleration from a still position, which makes it an appealing model for the young generation rider to own. According to the manufacturers, Bajaj Auto, the 4-valve petrol engine is expected to give off the best acceleration coupled with the highest speed among bikes in the 135cc motorcycle segment.

According to the industry, along with an expected fuel economy of around 68 kmpl and the other advanced technologies incorporated, the Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i is all set to replace the Bajaj 135cc XCD in the market and going by the initial feedback and reviews, it is touted to be an icon of great success and even create a whole new segment of lightweight yet powerful sports bikes.

Engine

The engine of the Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i is bursting at the seams with the newest and latest technologies and is one of the world’s first engines in vehicles of this segment to feature 4 valves that enable it to give an exceptional pickup and acceleration.

This 4-valve engine is designed to give a performance better than a regular 2-valve engine and is capable of generating a maximum power of 13.3 Bhp at 9000 rpm and a max torque of 11.4 Nm at 7500 rpm and coupled with the revolutionary Digital Twin Spark-ignition technology it can maximize the combustion of petrol to deliver super power and superior fuel economy and reduced emission of pollutants making it one of the most efficient of engines in this class of motorcycles.

The acknowledged superiority of the DTS-i 4-valved engine not only gives enhanced performance but also a good mileage even in city riding conditions and this is certified by the ARAI.

Acceleration

The Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i is capable of revving up to 60 Kmph from 0 Kmph in merely 5.8 sec. with a top speed of 106.8 Kmph and all this is due to the 134.66 cc power plant of an engine that is a 4-stroke, air cooled, 4-valved, single cylinder SOHC (Single Overhead Camshaft) petrol engine that is also loaded with twin spark plugs that come with the DTS-i technology that makes it so powerful.

With all the above features and the five speed gearbox with manual transmission, it produces 13.5 PS of maximum power at 9000 rpm rotation and 11.4 Nm of maximum torque at 7500 rpm giving it an excellent performance and acceleration.

The Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i also has an all-new 4-valve DTS-i engine which is what makes it possible for this machine to achieve more efficient fuel combustion which in turn results in enhanced acceleration power and engine performance.

Mileage

Bajaj Auto has fully leveraged its Digital Twin Spark-ignition (DTS-i) technology which it has patented in India, to provide optimum combustion of the charge which is the air-fuel mix that makes the Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i give the best results as far as engine performance and mileage are concerned.

The new 4-valve engine comes with 2 intake valves and 2 exhaust valves as against the single valve each in the regular 2-valve engines. This makes for a quicker and more efficient combustion technology that makes maximum use of the fuel charge and gives a greater fuel economy as well as engine performance.

With an eight litres capacity fuel tank and a 2.5 litres reserve tank of which 1.6 litres are usable, the Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i gives an excellent mileage of 68.1 Kmpl as certified by the ARAI. However, according to actual users, they are able to obtain around 48 Kmpl in city riding conditions and upto 59 Kmpl when riding on the highway.

Accordingly, this motorcycle has been certified to comfortably meet all the BSIII regulations for emission and pollutants, making it an altogether ‘Green’ motor vehicle which is the need for the day.

Colors

The first impressions often are the last in the minds of the customer and the looks of a vehicle are what holds the interest of the buyer to further investigate and evaluate the pros and cons of the vehicle before making a purchase.

If the looks and the visual impact are not appealing enough, even if the vehicle is a top class product, chances are, it will not even merit a second glance let alone a second chance from the prospective buyer.

In this respect, colors play a very important role and can make or break a customer’s mind towards a particular model. In the Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i great care has been taken to ensure that the vehicle is made available in the right colors and hence three shades that conform to give an impression of speed have been selected.

The Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i is thus available in three shades viz: Cocktail Wine Red, Plasma Blue and the all-time favorite and safe color Midnight Black. The rest of the graphics are also geared to go with the image of aggression, lightness and speed.

Brakes

Merely having power, acceleration and speed in your engine does not make a bike complete. The consumer will also look for safety and control of the machine while riding it and a good acceleration system must necessarily also have a good and efficient braking system to complement it.

Powerful brakes alone will not ensure the safety of the rider unless the motor bike also has great control while using the brakes.

The Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i is equipped with an advanced braking system that will make sure it works safely and efficiently but also with great control that it provides from its 5-speed gear box. This gear box and the 4-valve DTS-i technology enables the Bajaj Pulsar 135 to provide good pick-up even at low speeds so there is no need to constantly shift gears while riding.

The front wheel of the new Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i is fitted with the rather large Disc brakes having a diameter of 240 mm while the rear wheel comes fitted with the 130 mm diameter Drum brakes which makes braking safe enough in any weather conditions.

Suspension

The comfort of a motor bike when riding it comes from the smoothness of the journey and this in turn is constrained by the quality of the suspension system that the vehicle is fitted with. A good suspension system will have shock absorbers that take the rough out of the ride leaving you feeling fresh and energetic even after a long ride.

The Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i has a lot of advanced technology built-in to ensure you have a comfortable ride despite all the power, speed and aggression provided by the new 4-valve DTS-i engine.

The advanced suspension system of the Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i helps to reduce the jerks felt on bumpy roads and when riding over potholes and takes care of the stability and handling ease of the bike making for a very comfortable riding experience.

The front 130 mm Stroke, Telescopic Fork with Anti Friction bush suspension system on the front wheel and the Trailing Arm co-axial hydraulic cum gas filled shock absorbers on the rear wheel ensures greater riding comfort and stability.

Wheels and Tyres

The Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i has the finest of wheels and tyres to go with the sleek and sporty look of the bike. While the task of the wheels is to help in the locomotion of the vehicle, it must also ensure that the ride is safe and comfortable.

The wheels fitted on this bike are made of alloy and are mag wheels having a black matt finish with five spokes for stability and solidity. The tyre sizes for both the wheels are good enough to provide maximum support and balance to the bike. The front wheel tyre is 2.75 x 17 inch in size while the rear one is 100/90 x 17 inch in size.

The wheel base is what makes for stability and safety for the rider and the Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i has a wheel base of 1325 mm which is impressive in itself because while it is an established fact that a fine wheel base is more stable, a wider wheel base gives the rider more control.

Comfort

All in all, the Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i has evolved as a very comfortable bike to ride on even for the longer distances. The aggression, power and speed notwithstanding, riding the Bajaj Pulsar 135 cc is a comfortable experience.

You start the bike without unduly exerting yourself using the electric self starter with autochoke that makes for a failproof start even in cold weather conditions. The telescopic front suspension with its anti-friction bushes and the 5 step adjustable Nitrox rear suspensions make for a smooth ride even at higher speeds.

The broad tyres and wheel base of the Pulsar 135 cc give the bike a firmer road grip improving its stability and comfort for the rider. Besides this, there are many other little embellishments that add to the comfort experience such as DC Ignition, brighter lights for improved visibility in dim light situations and a battery charge indicator for easy monitoring of the battery’s status.

Variants

Until very recently, the Bajaj Pulsar series of motorcycles were available in only four variants having engine capacities of 135 cc, 150 cc, 180 cc and 220 cc along with a 200cc DTS-i variant that had an oil cooled engine but which has since been removed from the market.

Accessories

There is a limited set of accessories that come with the Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i and these include a separate Seat Cover and a Tank Cover made of synthetic rexine material. A Helmet Lock helps secure the riding helmet to the bike so there is no need to lug it around wherever you go.

A sturdy Engine Guard will protect the engine from scratches or damage in the event of an impact or accident. Extra Handle Grips are available to provide a firmer grip to the handle and a Ladies Handle with a Hook is also available for ladies to get a grip of the bike when riding pillion while the hook allows you to hang an extra shopping bag from the side.

Also available is a Side Box for storing your bags and shopping without hindrance to the rider or the pillion rider and the Rain Cover, needless to say will protect against rust and excessive moisture during the monsoons.

Conclusion

To conclude, it is safe to say that while the Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS-DTS-i has an aggressive pick-up with powerful acceleration, it has some sleek lines and an attractive color selection that goes in keeping with its image of a sporty bike that is yet light, sturdy and safe to ride.

While conceiving and developing the motor bike, the Bajaj engineers kept comfort and safety of both, the rider as well as the pillion uppermost in their minds and the final product has fully lived up to their expectations.

While the rider has all the conveniences at his disposal, the pillion rider too is comfortable on the step-up seat and foot rests with better grip while riding.

The positives for the bike are its lean and mean muscular looks, powerful new engine and superior suspension and safety, while the negatives are the absence of rear disc brakes and more colors.

The heartthrob of lakhs of youth, Bajaj Pulsar has revolutionized the market the same way what Yamaha RX 100 did a decade back. Bajaj Pulsar is now almost a status symbol among the youth of the country. Splendid styling, Macho looks, unbeatable performances on the road are some of the reasons that led to such a huge fan following that the bike today has got.

Bajaj Pulsar 220 is the latest release in the market after the success of Pulsar 135, Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 180. The bike packs in more power than the earlier three versions. Well that is clearly due to the cubic capacity (CC) of the machine though some added features provide certain extra capabilities to the machine compared to its older generations. Fine-tuned engine supplemented with the brain of electronics takes the bike to the next level of driving. Added features such as a standard tubeless tyre are a plus.

Being the top end model in the Pulsar Series, Bajaj Pulsar 220 is definitely top priced for the same. The design of the Pulsar is still retained the same no major modifications to its look. The bike is definitely not for the regular office goers; this is meant for those who would require an adrenalin kicking action on the road.

Bajaj Pulsar 220 – Appearance

The front pointed, looks with a flowing design at the rear are mainly done for improving the aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle. The vertical stack twin projector head lamps are new in this class. It provides a wolf eye look at the machine. The headlight is curved exceptionally with the windshield aptly groove fixed into it. The extra-large tank, the standard feature of the Pulsar are tapered at the edge provides good legroom for the rider. The rear view mirror is provided in the handlebar making it look a little groomed up for India.
The clip-on handle bars is the other feature of the Pulsar that makes the bike look racier. The split seats in the bike provide ample seating space for the rider as well as the pillion rider. The split seat is a feature that all high end bikes possess and the same has been provided here. The rear tail lamp is perfectly merged with the rear mudguard to give an exception look at the bike. The 3d Chiseled logo in the bike adds glamor to the bike.

Bajaj Pulsar 220 – Engine

The 220 cc Engine is really a power house for the bike. The engine is a Four Stroke engine, but the engine characteristics really question that. Providing a maximum torque of 19.12 Nm at 6500 rpm, there is no road that is hard for this bike. The maximum power of 21.4 BHP is attained at 8500 rpm of the engine. This is a Digital Twin Spark ignition engine with temperature based ignition mapping. The engine is supplemented with the largest venturi carburetor. A highly sophisticated Electronic control unit monitors the fuel inflow to the engine. The auto choke feature in the engine is really a class of its own.

Acceleration

The Bajaj Pulsar is a strong horse with the capability to reach from 0 to 60 in just 5.8 Seconds. The figure is really a competitive one among the corresponding class of bikes. The top speed of 106 km per hour is not so hard to reach point with its highly responsive five speed gearbox. The ratios in the gearbox are optimized for both speed and power for the particular speed ranges. The wet plate clutch is responsive to just the touch of the clutch handle. The Digital Twin Spark enables the complete combustion of the fuel helping the bike reach the required speed with ease.

Mileage

The bike is a racer class rated and anyone who plans to own the vehicle need not be bother much on the mileage. With a tank capacity of 15 Liters, there is no limitation on the distance for the vehicle to go on. The bike has a mileage of 36 Km per liter on the traffic laden urban roads. The figure was pretty good on highways with the pulsar providing a mileage of 45 Km per liter.

The vehicle’s mileage is more dependent on the rider’s style of riding. More throttling and high clutch operated rides can cost more on the mileage. Being a racing model, one should not expect much on the mileage from the bike.
<script type="text/javascript"

Colors

The Bajaj Pulsar is a catchy bike in any color. The tank, the side claddings and the headlight are the areas that carry color in the bike. The bike is available in three common colors

Catchy Black – With the look of a monster, this is the most sought after color by the youngsters. Perhaps this should be the color that should occupy majority of Pulsar’s population.

Sparkling Red – Provides the look of an apple bubbling with energy. Red is always full of fire and energy as the Pulsar is.

Soft White – The sheep in wolf’s clothing. Looks mean in the color, but the inside of it carries the fire.

Brakes

The brakes provide the safety for the bike. Maybe the designers thought that this untamed beast would require a lot more to get it tamed. This is the reason why the Pulsar 220 is provided with disc brakes on both the wheels. The dual caliper of 260 mm in the front wheel is the biggest for this bike provided for the guys who love to play with this bike. The rear disc brake is provided with a single caliper 230 mm disc brake that just stops the vehicle quite instantly. Do be careful in handling Pulsar 220 on the brakes. You could be anywhere else other than the bike.

Suspension

The front telescopic bush type suspension provides a friction free cushioning effect to the rider. No roads are out of bounds for the Pulsar 220 which has the best suspension in its class. The five way adjustable Nitrox suspension at the rear is really an owner’s delight. Adjust the rear suspension to affect the suspension choice of yours. One is provided with five choices of varying the suspension damping from very soft to strong. The suspension provides extreme control of the vehicle particularly at the curves. The suspension system enables the vehicle to glide easily through even the most inaccessible roads.

Wheels and Tyres

The Pulsar 220 is provided with black alloy wheels beautifully matched to the ambience of the vehicle. The Spokes in the alloy wheels are equally spaced to distribute the loading evenly from the tyres. The Pulsar 220 uses tubeless tyres on both the front and the rear wheels. The Front wheel is provided with the 90/90 x 17 tyre and the rear wheel is provided with 120/80 x 17 tyre. The broader tyre at the rear provides ample gripping to the vehicle particularly during the negotiation of the curves. The tubeless tyres add safety to the vehicle even in the eventuality of a puncture to the tyre.

Comfort

Though the suspension takes care of the rough roads and provides comfort for the vehicle, it is the seat that provides the comfort for the rider. The Split seat design is common among the racing bike varieties. The pillion seat eventually provided mainly to satisfy keeping the Indian mentality in mind. The rider’s seat is broadened at the back providing full support and tapered towards the front enabling the rider to adjust his legs freely. The rear seat is slightly elevated to provide the pillion rider more area for his seating. Leg rests for the rear seat is provided at an optimum height enabling the pillion rider to enjoy the ride in Pulsar 220.

Conclusion

On the whole, the new Pulsar 220 is a new wine in an old bottle. Successive successfulness of the Pulsar range has induced Bajaj to come up with this option. There is no second thought on the Success of this model in the market. Compared to the competitor’s variants available in the market in the same range, Pulsar 220 stands on top of the list mainly on its features and pricing. Fine Tunings are bound to be a part in the future models of Pulsar 220 to be released. But, still the current Pulsar 220 will rule the roost till that.

The rear brake disc is of a bigger diameter of 220 mm providing a larger area of braking. A single pot caliper deploys the pad on the brake disc immediately on the push of the brake lever. Holes amply provided on the brake disc cool the brake disc immediately. The holes also assist in the removal of water that tends to stick to the brake disc.

Suspension

The bike is provided with a telescopic suspension at the front a quite common feature in all the bikes. The rear side is provided with the Linked type monocross suspension. The linked type monocross suspension system of Yamaha YFZ R15 provides a soft ride to the rider. This suspension type in particular enhances the comfort of driving the vehicle and provides a better handling of the vehicle particularly at the turns. The main feature of this suspension system is that it prevents the sinking effect of the vehicle when it is run in tandem. The suspension tends to provide a silky smooth ride on any kind of road.

Wheels and Tyres

The black five spoke alloy wheels are designed to take up the complete load of the vehicle along with the passengers as well as the beating the tires receive from the roads. The Five spoke wheels are actually ten spokes cleverly designed to distribute the loading on the wheels evenly.

The front tyre uses a smaller tyre of size 90/80 R17 whereas the rear end is fitted with a larger and broader radial type of size 130/70 R17. The larger and wider tyre at the rear provides better road grip to the vehicle particularly at the turns and during the wet seasons.

Comfort

The Yamaha YFZ R15 comes with a split seat design. The rider is provided with a wider and lengthier seat providing an ultimate experience to the rider. The split up rear seat is fitted with an anti-skid to provide a firm ride for the rear passenger. The higher position of the rear seat is quite wide and enables the pillion rider to travel with the best comfort. The split seat also distances the pillion rider from the driver thus providing a hassle free driving comfort for the driver. The best suspension system in the bike coupled with the wider tyres surely makes any drive in Yamaha YFZ R15 a pleasurable one

Conclusion

On the whole the vehicle is a perfectly balanced vehicle on performance as well as on the running costs. Though the pricing of the vehicle is a bit higher, a close study on the features of the vehicle is sure to substantiate the high cost. Drive comfort and Easy maneuverability are the real plus points of this vehicle. Being a liquid cooled engine, the maintenance cost of the vehicle may be slightly on the higher side. This is due to the fact that water constitutes as a major entity in the liquid cooling the engine. But for all, the vehicle surely gets thumbs up.

Sports bike always has a similar touch in terms of fuel tank. Similar to its genre, Yamaha Fazer has a huge tank with the tank-lid placed right in the middle of it. Devil on the road is unleashed with this model by Yamaha which is bigger than Yamaha FZ-16. Unique designing holding calibrated place in its arsenal gives its reputation a heads-up as the rear portion of the bike is complete sport. Side panels give an appearance of a sort out bike with rear cowl. The muffler design along with the side look of the bike name makes it perfect. Exhaust is covered with heat shield for better performance. The components of this bike are available at cheap prices in original as compared to other bikes in India. First of its kind in Indian market, Yamaha Fazer generates a cult among youth genre and for all.

Engine

Yamaha Fazer is installed with best parts and among them engine of the bike holds most importance. Fitted with air cooling component, with a 4-Stroke SHOC 2 valve engine it is a power train on road. Displacement rate in this 153CC bike is of 7500 rpm generating a power of 14 PS. The maximum torque exhaled is 14 NM at 6000 rpm. When you talk about 150CC segment bikes, it is rare to find a better one than Yamaha Fazer considering the features and engine performance. Upgrading its performance even more, Yamaha Fazer is now having a transmission return type up to 5-speed gearboxes.

The specifications of the bike include its amazing minimum ground clearance of 160mm which is far better than normal bikes. The length, width, height ratio of the bike is 1975, 770 and 1045 mm. Electric start facility incorporated in the engine gives it a good beginning and with kerb weight of 141 kg it has a dry weight of 130 kg overall. Self lubricating chain keeps you away from any unconditional jerks and vibrations.

Acceleration

Wind blazing Yamaha Fazer has a captivating Acceleration rate of 0 to 60 kilometres in just 5.6 seconds. This is the kind of aggression and exertion it presents on road. Pick up is best in any speed for a smooth ride as well as becoming that speed devil on road. When acceleration is high, it is natural to have vibrations at higher level but Yamaha Fazer differs in this thing with its self lubricating chain and hardcore engineering. You can even check it yourself by blazing it on its fifth gear. Though the top speed has been limited to 114 kilometres, it is best for the Indian roads considering the safety. A metallic view on the panel with black and silver is common for all vibrant which is different on front mudguard and tank. Hence, Acceleration of the bike makes an important effort to prove the bike’s mettle in market.

Mileage

The fuel tank of Yamaha Fazer looks huge and surely it is as it can hold a total of 12 litres overall. All riders know Indian roads and traffic and hence this 150CC genre bike has been providing a moderate and consistent performance in terms of mileage. With a moderate rate of 40 kilometres per litre in the city and 46 kilometres per litre on highway, it provides a decent approach to the bikers. Indian buyers in market have a common interest in getting a good mileage in their bike. Yamaha Fazer brings that search to end with its calibrated performance with exclusive features and specifications along with a mileage rate that is not so bad.
Mileage lookers always seem to get the best of their money. Petrol prices need to be considered by one and all and that is why when you talk about an economical buy, Yamaha Fazer lacks behind a little in terms of mileage. Yamaha with its high class engineering façade promises to bring forth a better mileage in future. The sale of Fazer reaching greater heights is possible with better and optimized mileage of the bike which is already installed with everything else needed to make it a hit.

Colours

The super bike in its own words comes in eye catcher colours that include lava red, midnight black, flaming orange and electric black. Body colour is differently placed on tank, front cowl, front mudguard, fork, and rear side panels. Rest of the parts has a common colour pattern of black and silver colour. Styling is affected by these colour pattern and hence you need to choose a colour that suites your persona on road. With a choice of four different colours, you have the definite advantage of getting bike colours of your choice. Most people go for midnight black and lava red but other two colours are also in similar demands from the buyers in market.

Brakes

Yamaha Fazer has incorporated disc brake technology for its front wheel with a stylish look. Eye catching round shape is not the only thing that you will see but the amazing control of the bike will make you go gaga over this bike of 153CC. This disc brake is of hydraulic single disc types and is having a dimension of 267mm. This ensures your safety on road as well as gives better control of the bike. However, the rear wheel is installed with drum type braking technology. This would have been better if it was disc brake technology too which is expected soon by Yamaha in future versions and of Fazer.

Suspension

International features make a plethora of choices for you to choose Yamaha Fazer from a long list of available bikes in the market. Among these features comes suspension of the tyres. Rear wheel in this case gives you best comfort ride with monocross suspension. This is generally available in only high end sports racing bikes. This rear suspension can be adjusted seven times depending upon your requirement. However, front suspension is of telescopic type. This is again an engineering masterpiece as the bike is well formed keeping in mind the suspension and braking technique synchronization. Yamaha is expected to launch a new calibrated edition of Fazer that will include monocross suspension on both wheels as well as disc brakes in both the wheels making it complete international.

Wheels and Tyres

Looks of Yamaha Fazer is what you will be talking about with your friends for a long time after you purchase this bike. Talking about wheels, installed with five spoke black alloy wheels it shuts up the onlookers who bring out the cons of Fazer. Having alloy wheels was expected, as today it is present in almost all bikes in this genre. However, the quality that Yamaha brings sets it apart from the crowd. Bringing out the best, Yamaha Fazer also sets its standards high with tubeless tyres installed prominently on both wheels. Another achievement for Yamaha came with the dimension of the wheel that is claimed by Yamaha to be the first of its kind in India. Dimension of the bike tyres is 140/60-17 redial that gives an amazing grip on road and gives a smooth ride even on bumpy roads.

Comfort

Looks and performance wise Yamaha Fazer already sets its standard high and with the better changed seating arrangement it gives the best comforting zone you can get into. Forget the tantrums that were messing up with your long drive plan on your bike. With Yamaha Fazer in your hand you get the best ride of your lifetime. Handle bars are also placed accordingly to provide a better grip and eased up controlling. To exclude side kick start-up was first criticized by people but with time it got soothed up as it provided a better and comforting side panel of this bike. Young generation is the target audience for this edition by Yamaha and with time it will reach out to masses in large. Foot pegs are present for adults riding the bike.

Conclusion

Looks and designing is by far the best in its class. With a price of Rupees 72,000 it gives an unmatchable score for all. Performance wise Yamaha Fazer again gets the top notch and finally the new graphics and other sports bike feature give it a high reputation. However, there are few things that needs enhancement for a better performance overall. Though mileage is moderate but in other bikes of same genre it lacks behind. Pillion back rest is missing which stops adult buyers to get their hands on this bike. Finally, kick start and leg guard exclusion makes it a little uncomfortable for Indian market.

Appearance

Yamaha YZF R15 is the best appealing and sporty bike available in India. All parts of the bike have impressive design including the front view and the rear view. The front view is ornamented by a dual headlamp which gives the appearance of an owl sitting on a branch of the tree. In the headlamp group, each headlight has smaller lights which help in sharper view. A sharp line in between has divided the twin headlamps, and this sharp line contains a V shape transparent wind screen. On both sides of the wind screen, black color rear view mirrors are fitted. This bike is available with front turn indicators which gives easy view to the rider behind the bike. It has two-piece handlebar, compact size fuel tank as well as fuel lid opener which give a stylish look to the bike. Its step up type seat gives it a sporty look. It has got toe-gear shifter and footpegs available for rider. The rear side and chain is left naked, and this bike comes equipped with stylish up swept silencer without a heat shield. And it makes pleasing sound when it is in running position. Both rear side and front side are similar. It is having five spoke black alloy wheels for good performance and mileage. Overall it is having sporty and classy look.
Colors

Yamaha is available in four new stunning colors like Blue, Black, Red and Yellow, and all its available colors make it a perfect match for racing bikes. The colors are mixed with the graphite color. The main colors are painted in body at tank, seat, wheels, muffler, handlebars and tail. And Graphite is coated over air-scoops front fairing. Yellow color is often identified with racing bikes and this often adds extra cost to the bike. The good part with Yamaha is this that the yellow one in this is available at the same cost. The red one is really famous for its killing look, while blue one adds good effect and black one has worldwide effect over other colors.

Brakes

This bike is having disc brakes of 240mm at both its end. And in this sports bike, this is a very essential feature. These brakes will give ease to the rider to bring this huge machine to halt anytime, and it does not matter what is the speed at which he is driving. This sporty rider’s friend is having 270mm single disc with dual piston calipers in the front side as well as 220 mm single disc single piston caliper on the rear side. Both the brakes systems are made from Nissin of Japan. The suspension on the front side is twin telescopic fork and that on the rear side is advanced linked type monocross suspension. The bike is available with Hydraulic single disc brakes on both front and rear side.

Suspension

This bike has delivered good performance in terms of suspensions. The linked type monocross suspension along with Deltabox frame gives a comfortable ride to both rider as well as pillion. The linked type monocross suspension consists of link mechanism squeezed in between the rear arm and cushion unit, and this will create lever ratio based on the lever effect. Lever Ratio is high when the shock absorber is fully extended, and for this spring is soft. Even the damper works softly. The lever ratio decreases when the shock absorber strokes in. When the shock absorber is fully stroked in, it makes spring really hard and strong. This change in lever ratio helps to achieve soft riding comfort.

Wheels and Tyres

The wheels of Yamaha YZF 15 is having pretty look with five spoke black alloy wheels. The front and rear tyres are 80/ 90-17 and 100/ 80-17 respectively, and the wheel base is little less than real sports bike. It comes with real wheel base of 1290 mm, and this affects the balance. This however supports in gaining fuel efficiency. Their tyres are tubeless. The broad wheel base would be better for it. This bike is most popular one in 150 cc bike segment. The wheelbase is 1290mm which provides good handling and control to the rider. It is having almost all innovative features that provide good handling and control.

Comfort

This bike is fitted with almost all the comfort features, which help in ensuring that a rider enjoys a smooth ride. The seat is step up type that ensures comfortable sitting on the bike.

There is split grab rails that help the passenger to help in fearless riding. There are foot pegs available for both rider as well as pillion. Even the handle bar position helps the rider in getting a better grip that increases his confidence. Its new innovation is Delta box chassis which ensures rigidity. There is linked type mono cross suspension in the center of the bike that helps to avoid cracks on the road. Suspension along with lever ratio helps to give smooth and jolt free ride.

Conclusion

Yamaha YZF R15 is a perfect bike in terms of style as well as performance. It especially attracts power lovers in bike with all its latest and sophisticated technologies. Its killing looks, good performance and controls and decent mileage rank is above any other bike available in market. Everyone has started to compare other bikes with Yamaha R 15 considering it as the benchmark. It is a perfect racing bike with its tagline “See you at Finish Line”. However its wheelbase should be bit wider in order to justify its comfort as sports bike, and self start option will trouble in cases of battery being down as well as bad weather. It is costly as compared to other bikes. Overall people with enjoy its ride with its great and appealing look.
